Virtual Commencement 2020

There was no way a virtual graduation would be able to replace the real thing, we knew that at the onset, but what can a virtual graduation do that a physical one can not? We decided to aim our early thinking in this direction. We determined that you can carefully mediate the pace to create what amounts to a televised spectacle. You can use music to great effect. You are restricted by time and have to keep everything snappy. The graduates are able to sit shoulder to shoulder with their parents as they experience a graduation from the comfort of their home. You can design the entire symphony in an order that rises and drops as you choose.

The end result was the length of a short feature film that ends with a bang. Tears were shed, virtual hugs were given and most of all, the community experienced closure.
